TSATSAS products are made of high-quality leather with a natural finish.
All TSATSAS leathers come from animals reared for meat production in southern Germany, France, South India and New Zealand. Only smooth, open pore leathers are used, the properties of which in each case determine the texture of their surface. Every skin and every hide is unique; its pores and grain lend it its own very special character.
The skins and hides are tanned to produce leather. This craft has been practiced for millennia and today it combines old traditions with cutting-edge, environmentally friendly processes. All the tanneries with which TSATSAS cooperates fulfill the highest ecological and technical standards. The skins are chosen very carefully. All used leathers are free of AZO dyestuffs, PCP and chrome VI.
In the tanning process, the leathers for TSATSAS products are aniline-dyed in a water bath. The dye used penetrates all layers of the leather and is transparent. This means that the leather’s natural visible pores are preserved. Scars and variations in colour are not covered up, which is why this method can only be used with high-grade skins and hides.
calfskinThe skins of South German cattle supply a robust leather, distinguished by its silky feel and its soft folds. Tanned also in Germany, this open pore leather has a completely natural finish and, subsequent to the tanning process, is treated with only a small amount of wax. The results are natural markings on the surface and a fine grain.
Shrunken New Zealand
lamb nappaNew Zealand lambs boast a particularly fatty hide which makes for a leather with a very coarse texture. After tanning in France, the lamb leather is not stretched. Instead, it shrinks into its natural shape during the drying process. This gives it a strong grain. The leather has a warm, soft feel and a natural sheen.
lamb nappaThis fine pore aniline-dyed nappa leather is made from the hides of South Indian lambs. The natural surface of this leather boasts a slight sheen, it falls in gentle folds. It is one of the world’s most supple leathers; its smooth surface has a very soft feel to it.
All TSATSAS products are fully lined with pacific blue lamb nappa leather.
goat suedeThe raw hides for this suede leather come from South Indian goats. They provide a beautiful soft nap and an intense colour depth, paired with light weight and a delicate natural drape. The leather has a very smooth feel to it.
